With the Tree House competition, is there a reception component? A place that is not just a housing space? Lobby, learning center for arboreal knowledge or history of the site, restaurant, etc? Also, what is the existing house on the site for? Is it part of the competition?
Hello Chris, The focus of this competition is to create an arboreal housing outcome, such as a homestay, for tourists looking to reconnect with nature. You are permitted to include other activities (Lobby, learning center for arboreal knowledge or history of the site, restaurant, etc) in the design. Though they should not overpower the aim (homestays) of the challenge and should be designed within the given site parameters.
The structure on the site is an existing private/public residence. It is not a part of the challenge, you can refer to the AutoCAD file for the precise site boundary around it.

The program says not to disturb the trees, but can we build on land with no trees?
Hi! Yes, you can choose to design on a site area which has no trees. Although the intervention should be designed as per the context around it.
