A Symphony of Mud and Nature

Nestled on the fringes of Wada's reserved forest area, Maativan embodies a commitment to environmental consciousness. Climatology-Driven Comfort

Maativan's climatology-driven design ensures a comfortable built environment. Mud walls strategically placed towards the south reduce heat gain, while the northward-sloping roof minimizes exposure, preserving the surrounding ecology. The courtyards and openings harness prevailing cross-ventilation patterns, creating naturally lit and well-ventilated spaces.

Crafting Sustainability

Maativan's commitment to sustainability extends beyond design. The structure, featuring mud walls, stone walls, bamboo and wood roofs, lime plasters, and recycled materials, reflects a deep connection to local traditions. Local labor and artisans, along with vernacular ancient Indian construction techniques, enrich the project with cultural authenticity.

Fusion of Indigenous Materials

The material palette is a curation of locally sourced materials, including wood, soil, and stone harvested from the site. Kota stone, lime plaster, and traditional IPS flooring contribute to a bright color palette. Locally sourced bamboo with mud and lime was used to build furniture using the wattle and daub technique.
