Seamless Integration: Iris Lacoudre and Rosalie Robert Transform a Home with Stunning Extension in Cachan
House Extension in Cachan: Transforming Space with Iris Lacoudre and Rosalie Robert?

This project takes place in Cachan, a town south of Paris, on a long plot with a townhouse built in 1900. The owners want to create a kitchen and a staircase leading to a garden below, with the ambition of providing a freedom and malleability of uses. A wooden structure, like a pavilion in the garden, draws a generous space where the two levels of the house cross, acting as a threshold between the living spaces of the ground floor and the garden. The project unfolds different layers, starting from the glazed façade. The kitchen counter is lined with a library and a staircase, creating a room free from its programmatic constraints, open to the contingency of everyday life. Two large sliding doors allow natural ventilation and offer different relations to the territory: one at the bottom of the staircase opens to the enclosed garden, while the other upstairs offers a view of the landscape from afar.
