Architectural Brilliance Unveiled: Discover the E8 Residence by Meir Lobaton Corona and Rafael Ortiz Cervantes
Is E8 the Future of Residential Architecture? Explore the Vision of Meir Lobaton Corona and Rafael Ortiz Cervantes

The complexity of the project's spatial and volumetric aspects was not the result of a formal strategy, but rather the materialization of the clients' programmatic guidelines and constraints. Four families with different requirements and sometimes conflicting demands led to creating spaces and volumes that give the sensation of being a naturally grown body, rather than an imposed construction controlled by the architects. The site's geometry, dimension, and orientation dictated the decision to fold back the built volumes towards the western boundary, leaving room for a semi-deciduous garden that serves as a natural buffer and gathering place between the dwellings.
The four units are intertwined in a seamless three-dimensional puzzle, blurring the boundaries between them and giving the impression of a single house rather than an aggregation of apartments. The materiality of the construction reinforces this effect: the red clay brick load-bearing walls create a continuous texture, occasionally interrupted by wooden doors and window frames. The massiveness and rough texture of the architecture contrast with the delicacy of the vegetation, which will hopefully take possession of the built volumes over time.
