Modern Office Interior Design in Paris: Chez Riot by ūti architectes
A warm, modular office in Paris’s Marais by ūti architectes blends openness, custom design, and modern work culture seamlessly.
In the vibrant heart of Paris’s Marais district, ūti architectes has reimagined what a modern office interior design in Paris can feel like—fluid, collaborative, and warm. The Chez Riot office, covering 320 square meters, embraces spatial openness, custom craftsmanship, and material honesty to foster a balanced and adaptable work environment.

Preserving Spatial Generosity in a Historic Context
Situated within one of Paris’s most character-rich neighborhoods, the site presented a raw, open-plan floorplate—an opportunity rather than a constraint. Instead of segmenting the layout with rigid boundaries, the architects opted to retain the expansive character of the space. A long stretch of open-plan workstations runs parallel to the building’s main façade, maximizing daylight and visual continuity. This design choice not only preserves the sense of scale but supports team interaction across departments.

Creating Acoustic Refuge in the Courtyard Core
To buffer the office from the street’s ambient noise, all meeting rooms were organized around the building’s inner courtyard. This strategic placement gives each room acoustic protection while drawing in natural light from the serene core of the structure. The result is a sequence of calm, focused zones that contrast yet complement the more dynamic open areas.

The Kitchen as a Social Engine
At the heart of the office is an unusually large, central kitchen—designed not just for function, but for culture. This modular space serves as a daily gathering point, hosting informal meetings, communal lunches, and evening celebrations. Its flexibility transforms it from a practical workspace into a social engine that reflects the rhythms of contemporary work life.

Custom-Made for Flexibility and Warmth
The furniture throughout Chez Riot was custom-designed by ūti architectes with a strong emphasis on sustainability, minimalism, and tactile appeal. Mechanical joints replace permanent fixes, allowing easy assembly, disassembly, and reconfiguration. The large kitchen tables rest on wheels, a subtle yet significant detail that ensures the space can be rearranged to meet evolving needs—whether for a formal meeting, a team dinner, or a pop-up event.

Material Intelligence and Emotional Comfort
The palette of materials is both efficient and comforting. Wood dominates the design language, introducing natural warmth and a soft visual tone. Glass and metal are used sparingly to define partitions and accent details without overwhelming the minimalist composition. This approach to materiality enhances comfort, underscores environmental consciousness, and contributes to the timeless aesthetic of the workspace.

A Responsive Office for a New Work Culture
Chez Riot is more than a workplace; it is a spatial framework for creativity, collaboration, and adaptability. By combining open-plan transparency with intimate retreat spaces and by anchoring the office with a flexible social hub, ūti architectes have crafted an environment that aligns with the values of modern professional life. The project exemplifies modern office interior design in Paris—a balance of elegance, pragmatism, and warmth.

Chez Riot by ūti architectes redefines modern office interior design in Paris by blending spatial openness, modularity, and sensory tactility. Rooted in thoughtful custom design and community-centered use, the project demonstrates how architecture can enhance work culture while staying true to material simplicity and historic context.
