NEW HOUSTON

New Houston, the first self-dependent space settlement planned for 2040, is a synthesis selected from reasonable models that conducted by countless experiments. The significance of New Houston is to make human beings leave the earth and step into space life to become "interstellar species".

THE FORGE

Located on the asteroid belt, an asteroid mining station set in the near future is home to a community of asteroid miners. Our design takes a systematic approach to settlement design at a building and urban scale. We propose an adaptive aggregated system based on complex rules to determine the arrangement of typologies in four dimensional space.

MANHATTAN n.2

In 1991, eight scientists participated in an experimental project called Ecosphere 2 in Arizona, USA. Although the experiment ultimately failed, its process and results have very important reference value for future human migration to space. The main reason for the failure of the experiment was the lack of sufficient volume and complex ecological system.

COLE’S STATION

This station named after visionary American aerospace engineer and futurist – Dandridge MacFarland Cole. In his book ‘Exploring the Secrets of Space: Astronautics for the Layman’ with I. M. Levitt suggested hollowing out an ellipsoidal asteroid about 30 km long, and rotating it about its major axis to simulate gravity.
