Folding and unfolding
The fold is seen as means to reconnect the fragmented areas of the city and to unfold new interpretations on the image of women by each step one takes.
Strategic Planning, Series of interventions
The series of institutions project a 15 year long strategic planning with a variety of job opportunities for women to take on. The increase in the number of women engaged and employed into the positions to run the organization can provide the possibility to open further institutions that can engage more and more women to social enabling platforms.
Donna di Dolori Centre, A museum for education
‘Mi resta la mente’ (Valduga, 1991) refers to the lack of hope to be noticed with a desire to be. Even if many women had similar experience, many occasions, they could only count on themselves. The museum celebrates a journey to reinterpret the associations made on the image of women.
Fold as a cavern
The guidance of the fold carries one through the exhibition. The three folds (transitional, serviced, servicing) are joining at several points in the building to serve the 2nd fold. Both the transitional and servicing fold are meeting the serviced in the middle of the space.
Fold as an affective machine
The facade folds between the fold of the cavern of the exhibition and of the roofing allowing the light to enter to the building. These folds are interrupted when the caverns meet to allow access routes.
Fold as an event
Each frame are folding replicating the movement of waves allowing for a change in perception. This evokes a newer understanding of the image of women through the series of activities that they unfold. The workshop space extends before the weekend long event to prepare for the change in exhibits.
Fold as a threshold
9 series of frames are joining together to replicate a movement of a wave’s half of a length that joins two activities together. Each of these frames are seen as thresholds to pass through being composed of glulam beams and columns to create a frame.
