A shatter residing the tomb of Shahjahan. The concept of Black Taj is interpreted as a memory of pain and agony which creates a cracked void. This void is a window to Mumtaz's life, and watches over her for eternity.

The entire biography of Shah Jahan will be introduced through a journey, leading downward creating the then Mughal environment through lights and sounds. Our approach to Black Taj has been to reveal the layers of Mughal Empire and not let them remain buried under history. To do so, we wanted to create an experiential poetic space, not just a monument to something of the past. We wanted to orchestrate an experience that thrives the memory of Agra's people and celebrate a shared history.
