BREATHING LIBRARY
We are designing a library in the center of a city green space, and we hope the architecture can blend more naturally into the site while maintaining the overall integrity of the green area. Therefore, in the design, we use a larger atrium to bring in natural light and air into the building. The atrium is complemented by landscaping, blurring the boundaries between the natural environment and the architecture. We divide the building into two interlocking L-shaped blocks to better accommodate the site's topography and create a more varied architectural form. In the atrium, we utilize L-shaped blocks made of semi-translucent and flexible materials, along with staggered stacking smaller blocks,to create a space that allows natural light to diffuse into the building, creating a soft and gentle ambiance. The library and the environment flow freely together, as if breathing in unison when a gentle breeze passes by. They intertwine to form a captivating landscape.
