Nature Integration
Architecture and design work that brings natural elements, landscape, and climate-responsive strategies into the built environment.
Nature integration in architecture concerns how buildings relate to their surrounding landscape, light, vegetation, and local climate. Designers working on this topic treat the site as a starting point, shaping plan, massing, and material choices around sun, wind, and planting rather than imposing a form on it. The approach often blurs the boundary between interior and exterior space.Community work here spans residential projects, from tropical houses that open to the garden to family homes that bring daylight into dense urban rows, as well as small civic and commercial buildings that draw on natural themes. Submissions also explore temporary and experimental structures, showing how the relationship between shelter and environment can be reimagined at different scales.
