1. Can you provide the exact location of the city Ruins or even an approximate location? 2. Where is the Tourist Center so that we can place the bridge? 3. Will there be additional site photos provided. Such as from the actual site on the island?

Hello, 1. The ruins of the city are located around 10-12 kilometers to the southwest of the given site. 2. The brief challenge is to design a tourist centre as there are none in the area. You can choose to connect the bridge from the proposed centre to any main island around it, which can offer easy access to the given site. 3. The additional resources provided with the brief kit contains all the required information.

I thought the ruins are really far away. So the Breif section talks about "The visitor's centre must extend on the water to provide a clear view of the city for people not willing to go diving". So is the walkway to the ruins supposed to be 12 kilometers long? Obviously, that can't happen. Why is the site not closer to the ruins, seems like a waste if we can't solve the actual problem.

Hello, That's valid observation! The intention of the brief is to build access to the region of ruins through this visitor Centre, and to help increase awareness and popularity of the heritage site. The site is placed in an area that can be accessed through nearby tourist destinations to increase visibility of the Centre. Secondly, the ruins are spread out and 25m - 40m underwater will anyway have to be accessed by boats and designated diving points the way they are being done today. The Centre is dedicated to the legend of the ruins and to provide a space for visitors (both divers and non-divers) to view the city, not just through water activities but by other immersive means. The construction of the Centre can be extended on the water to enable such experiences. Lastly, the ruins are still being explored so its extent is under discovery. Being more of an ideas challenge challenge, and the heritage radius still being unclear - the aim of the challenge (thereby its site) is to create an opportunity for architectural exploration on this very theme, that allows conceiving an entry point to this amazing gateway to history. Hope that solves your query. Good Luck!

The last question asks how we are supposed to handle extending out onto the water to view the ruins when the site is over 10 kilometers away? Please answer this. Also, what is the 'Viewing Deck' to be looking at specifically when the ruins are so far away?

As mentioned above, neither the visitor centre nor the bridge has to be extended to the ruins. The ruins will be accessed by boats. The 'Viewing Deck' can capture the natural landscape around the site.

Is it known what the topography of the island is? The information is not in the CAD file or on Google Earth.

For the purpose of this competition, the site can be considered to be flat and clear of vegetation. (as shown in CAD plan)
