Hie , I was reading the area program section of POCKET HOME competition, Here it is written that maximum 3floors can be built.. so my doubt here is the 3 floor denotes ground+3 or ground+2 floor??
In the area program was also mentioned about 30 sq. m. for ground floor. Does it mean that the place for the reception desk has to have that area or those 30 sq.m. can consist e.c. a part of living unit or a staircase? Does it also mean that the form can stick the ground only on those 30 sq.m.? Can the form stick to walls of the buildings around the area?
Hello,
The ground floor area restriction has been removed and the brief site details and area programme have been updated.
The area of each modular living unit must not be more than 30 sq.m. and a total of 12 living units are to be designed on site. (Total 12 units x 30 sq.m maximum = 360 sq.m modular living unit floor area)
The area for reception and other ancillary spaces has also been updated.
The proposed structure can stick to the surrounding building walls on all sides.
Hope this solves your query. We are sorry for the trouble. Good luck!
Greetings from UNI,
We have recieved multiple queries regarding the area programme for the challenge 'Pocket Home' which has created much confusion. The conditions given in the brief did not match the vision of the challenge, so the guidelines of the brief have been simplified.
AREA PROGRAMME
The project should comprise 12 modular living units. The units will be rented out individually to different people as per their needs for not more than 6 months duration.
The following programmatic outline is the point to begin your design at. You can add a couple of more functions and activities in relevance to the competition brief - however, the number of living units shall remain fixed.
The area of each modular living unit must not be more than 30 sq.m floor space (Total 12 units x 30 sq.m maximum = 360 sq.m modular living unit floor area). The height limits are up to the participants for a single module as long as they are comfortable for human habitation as per standards. The entire floor space of a single module (30 sq.m) must be on one level only. (Single-level module only)
Each housing unit shall be designed for one or two persons and provided with spaces for living, sleeping, cooking, and bathroom.
Ancillary activities: About 15-20 sq.m of space for a reception desk/lobby, a small office for security, and a staff toilet must be provided to manage the pocket housing booking and service provision. (This does not have to be modular)
Shared amenities like a staircase, lifts, plumbing shafts, services, HVAC, storage, are not included in the 30 sq.m floor space limit of living units and are up to the participants to plan on based on project needs. There is no need for technical detailing of these elements, just marking the massing shall be enough.
The brief has been updated and the changes are visible on the compeition page.
Apologies for any inconvenience we may have caused. Please let us know if you have any more queries.
Good Luck!
Kind Regards
Team UNI
Hi.. is there any restriction in ground floor area?.. I mean the area of lobby, reception, services and office or it should be 15-20 sq.m
About 12m hight? do we need to consider it as a restriction or we can design higher than it
Hello,
There is no restriction on the ground floor area and participants can choose to incorporate common areas or accomodation modules as well.
The height of the design proposed cannot exceed 12 meters.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!
Hello, what about the building in the back? On DWG which you send you didnt draw it , only on photoes from satalite and photoes from street it is visable. We need to include it ? Or we can pretend it isnt there. ( the buliding totally in the back, in vinicity of our plot.)
Hello,
The edge of built structure in the back of the plot has been marked in the CAD drawing of the site. All buildings around the site (beyond plot boundary) constitute the context of the given site and must be taken into consideration while designing.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hii Mitali, you have to design a G+2 pocket home with height restrictions of 12 meters.

site dimensions?
Hello Kavin, site dimensions are mentioned in the CAD file available in the resources on your profile.
