The general typical idea of temporary housing is quite poor, a person is not surrounded by home comfort. We formulate our idea of the pocket home with the help of an air shell, which we associate with something light and inflatable. The ballOOn is an interpretation of the future temporary housing.

How to take advantage of the vacant narrow areas in a dense urban landscape? How to make them fully usable? Try to change your point of view by rotating your flat, fulfill the area using one module but joined on various angles, make it able to follow the sun rays. Its container form provides them working just like toy blocks, easy to be dismantled.

The scheme takes Tetris game as inspiration for unit layout. Due to the site constrains, our design follows a performance-driven generation workflow to arrange the unit combination and optimize interior microclimate. In respond to the immigrant homeless issue, the co-living space is added in between for social interactions to re-energize the community.

Daily Light

Daily Light is composed of 15 space units, including 13 living units and 2 service units. Through arrangement and stacking, the middle corridor is shaped as the main passage connecting the space, and the stairs in the atrium connect the vertical space. The terrace formed after the units are stacked can be used as an open-air cinema.
