Liuquan Lake Children's Playground Design: A Fusion of Nature and Exploration
An immersive playground in Yichang blending natural terrain and mythical themes, inspiring creativity and exploration for all ages.
A Unique Children's Paradise in Yichang
Nestled within the picturesque Liuquan Lake Park in Xiaoting District, Yichang, Liuquan Lake Children's Paradise is a 15,000 m² marvel designed by HID Landscape Architecture. Completed in 2024, this project merges the natural foothills and lakeside terrain into a captivating recreational space for children and adults alike. The design concept celebrates exploration, creativity, and community engagement, offering a dynamic playground that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.

Terrain-Inspired Playground Design
The playground's layout integrates the natural ridgeline of the foothills and the lakeside terrain, creating an immersive and organic recreational experience. The reconstructed terrain is characterized by undulating landscapes, alternating open and enclosed spaces, and a seamless blend of soft and hard surfaces. The design evokes imagery of a mythical ancient beast emerging from the forest, transforming the natural ridgeline into a functional and imaginative playground landscape.

The Water Drop Foothill Ring
At the heart of the playground lies a water drop-shaped foothill ring, strategically positioned four meters above the lowest point of the terrain. This ring serves as a central connection point, linking natural ridges, artificial ridges, and various amusement zones. The elevated ring transforms the park into a multidimensional space, encouraging users of all ages to explore its winding paths. The disrupted and distorted amusement line adds an element of surprise and wonder, making each visit a unique adventure.

Mythical Themes and Iconic Landmarks
One of the standout features of the park is its mythical theme, centered around the legendary creature "Yu Xiao." This theme is embodied in a hill landmark that houses the Yu Xiao slide, a favorite attraction among children. The landmark not only serves as a visual focal point but also reinforces the park's identity as a space of playful imagination and storytelling.

Endless Play and Community Engagement
Liuquan Lake Children's Paradise features 16 types of amusement equipment, each designed to inspire creativity and stimulate exploration. From climbing structures to slides and interactive installations, the playground offers unlimited play styles for children. Adults, too, are invited to relax and enjoy the park's tranquil setting, fostering a sense of community and connection to nature.

A Celebration of Nature and Play
The design of Liuquan Lake Children's Paradise exemplifies the harmonious integration of architecture and landscape. By utilizing natural and endemic features, the playground enhances the park's ecological value while creating a vibrant recreational space. Its innovative approach to terrain design, mythical themes, and multi-age inclusivity ensures that the park is a beloved destination for families and residents of Yichang.
