Architectural Restoration and Immersive Design

The renovation of the Finca, the main farmhouse, marked the beginning of the Son Blanc project. Originally in ruins, the building’s original structure was carefully preserved, with special attention to the vaulted ceilings and arched openings that now serve as stunning historical features. The vast, open spaces offer an ideal backdrop for architectural expression, allowing the natural surroundings to seamlessly integrate with the hotel’s design.

Inspired by the island's unique natural landscape, the interiors of Son Blanc are crafted with raw, organic materials that reflect the environment. Tidewater stone, wild olive wood, and clay are the primary materials used in the creation of the hotel’s 14 rooms, providing an authentic connection to Menorca’s traditions. The raw textures and natural forms evoke a sense of harmony with the land, creating a serene atmosphere for guests.

Craftsmanship and Contemporary Functionality

The Boyera—which houses the reception, restaurant, and sports room—becomes the heart of Son Blanc, where architectural identity is fully revealed. The space is defined by interwoven beams that form a dynamic graphic framework, while curved interior partitions offer both visual and functional organization. These partitions, made with earthy textures, serve as a sculptural screen, dividing spaces and hiding technical areas while preserving the open, natural flow of the building.

At Son Blanc, craftsmanship plays a significant role in the design. Local artisans have contributed bespoke furniture and artistic pieces that are custom-designed for the hotel. This celebration of craftsmanship enriches the hotel experience, creating a unique dialogue between architecture, nature, and local artistry.

Sustainability and Self-Sufficiency

Son Blanc’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its ecological design and self-sufficiency. The 130-hectare estate has gradually transformed into a regenerative agriculture model, promoting energy, water, and food autonomy. The hotel’s commitment to sustainability is integral to its operation, with practices that embrace a closed-loop system, where the land provides both the resources and the nourishment for the guests. From farm to table, the estate’s agriculture follows a short-circuit ecosystem, ensuring a sustainable and locally sourced food experience.

Local Collaborations and Artistic Vision

The hotel’s design also showcases the work of local artists and craftsmen, with each piece thoughtfully incorporated to reflect the island's cultural and natural heritage. Collaborators like Studio LER, Vincent Vincent, and Ceràmica Cumella have contributed custom furniture and installations that enhance the hotel's aesthetic and functional appeal, further deepening the connection between space and craftsmanship.
