Vastu-Compliant Twin Family Homes with Central Courtyard: The Courtyard House by Rushi Shah Architects + Tattva Landscapes
Twin Vastu-compliant homes in Ahmedabad feature central courtyards, integrating architecture with lush landscape design.
In Ahmedabad, India, The Courtyard House stands as a testament to the seamless integration of traditional Vastu principles with modern architectural design. Developed by Rushi Shah Architects in collaboration with Tattva Landscapes, this project, completed in 2023, spans 930 square meters, offering a harmonious living environment for two families within a shared premise.

Design Philosophy and Spatial Configuration
Designed around the Vastu Shastra's 24 directions, the twin houses are meticulously planned to ensure a spiritual and harmonious living environment. The master plan cleverly utilizes the combined plots to offer each family privacy while sharing a central garden view, with the residences' orientations fostering a deep connection to the surrounding landscape.

Central Courtyard and Material Palette
At the heart of each home lies a courtyard, acting as a vibrant and warm nucleus that enhances the spatial quality and visual appeal of the interiors. The choice of materials, including exposed RCC, brick, and brown kota, alongside a lush green palette, underscores the project's emphasis on natural elements and sustainable design.

Interior and Landscape Integration
The ground floor hosts communal living spaces aligned on a single axis to promote openness, with expansive views of the courtyard and central landscape. Custom-made furniture, artworks, and fixtures enrich the interiors, reflecting a personalized and timeless design approach. The landscape, featuring over 120 plant species, cobblestones, lawns, and a lotus pond, complements the architectural ethos, creating a serene outdoor experience.
The Courtyard House by Rushi Shah Architects + Tattva Landscapes is a masterful embodiment of Vastu-compliant design, offering a unique blend of privacy, communal living, and a deep connection with nature. Through thoughtful spatial planning, material selection, and landscape design, this project sets a new benchmark for twin family homes, ensuring a legacy of harmonious and sustainable living.
