DaLa House NAW Studio: A Minimalist Architectural Masterpiece in Da Nang

DaLa House, designed by NAW Studio, is a modern architectural gem located in Da Nang, Vietnam. Positioned at 141 To Hien Thanh, this three-story residence is carefully crafted to respond to the region’s climate while offering a seamless blend of aesthetics, functionality, and nature. With a total area of 235 square meters, the house accommodates a young family with two small children, prioritizing natural ventilation, privacy, and an open, light-filled interior.

Climate-Responsive Design with a Thoughtful Facade

Facing west, the house is designed to mitigate the challenges of direct sunlight. To counteract excessive heat, NAW Studio incorporated a horizontal concrete slat system along the facade. This architectural feature not only provides shading but also creates a striking visual identity for the home. The facade is angled slightly towards the southwest, allowing for better airflow and optimizing natural ventilation, ensuring a cooler indoor environment even during the hottest months.

Maximizing Space Through Innovative Layouts

The house is built on a slightly irregular plot, which presented a design challenge. Instead of seeing this as a limitation, NAW Studio transformed it into an advantage by strategically placing functional spaces towards the rear. The integration of courtyards and balconies helps in maximizing the use of space while promoting a fluid connection between different areas. Concrete steps positioned across a central skylight serve as both circulation paths and sculptural elements, enhancing the spatial experience and allowing for multiple perspectives within the home.
