GF House by WINTERI Arquitectura – Sustainable Luxury Home in Frutillar, Chile
GF House by WINTERI Arquitectura in Frutillar, Chile features sustainable design, panoramic lake views, natural materials, energy efficiency, and rural-inspired modern architecture.
GF House is a stunning single-family residence designed by WINTERI Arquitectura, perched at the highest point of a subdivision in Frutillar, Chile. This elevated location allows for breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Llanquihue, along with the iconic Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. The project demonstrates a seamless balance between modern architecture and the rural character of the Los Lagos Region, emphasizing natural light, energy efficiency, and landscape integration.

Architectural Concept & Design
Spanning 288 m² over two floors, GF House features a cross-shaped plan formed by two staggered volumes. These volumes are connected through a central vault that organizes the main living areas, including the barbecue, living, dining, and kitchen spaces. This double-height space is oriented entirely towards the landscape, enhanced by a double-glazed curtain wall that provides unobstructed views, effectively transforming the central area into a protected lookout.

The staggered configuration of the volumes efficiently accommodates service areas such as the access, parking, and machinery room, while maintaining a fluid spatial connection in the common areas. The careful orientation of bedrooms and living spaces follows the solar path, optimizing natural daylighting and minimizing energy consumption. This strategic layout ensures a strong relationship between indoor spaces and the surrounding natural environment.

Materiality & Sustainable Features
GF House embraces sustainable and locally inspired materials, reflecting the region’s architectural heritage. The exterior envelope is clad with recycled larch shingles, complemented by reddish zinc roofs, native wood, and sliding gates that recall the traditional rural barns, stables, and estates of the area. The symmetrical arrangement of volumes provides visual balance from every façade, reinforcing the home’s strong architectural presence.
The structural system combines a concrete slab elevated from the natural terrain with wooden framing reinforced by steel, particularly in the eaves, ensuring durability while harmonizing with the natural landscape.

Experience & Lifestyle
GF House not only prioritizes energy efficiency and sustainability but also elevates the experience of everyday living. Its design encourages residents to engage with the surrounding landscape while enjoying modern comfort, creating a home that is both functional and poetic. The central living space, with its expansive views and protected atmosphere, becomes a social hub and a vantage point for the stunning natural scenery.
