Located in the historic town of Besalú, Spain, the LC House by Sau Taller d’Arquitectura represents a refined balance between modern design, environmental responsibility, and contextual sensitivity. The house is positioned at the northern edge of the plot, adjacent to the access road, to maximize southern exposure and liberate garden space. This orientation not only captures panoramic views but also enhances passive solar gain throughout the year.
With a compact square plan measuring 9.3 x 9.3 meters, the design ensures maximum efficiency and clarity. The balloon-frame timber structure, supported by four central columns, defines four 15 m² corner zones organized around two vertical service cores. The result is a cruciform layout that seamlessly integrates functionality, structural simplicity, and openness.
