LES Eventspace by RHO: Transformative Industrial Event Space in Berlin
LES Eventspace by RHO is a flexible, industrial-inspired venue in Berlin, designed for canteen use, events, and performances.
LES Eventspace, designed by Berlin-based studio RHO, redefines flexibility and modularity in event space design. Located within a dynamic industrial campus in North Berlin, this 400-square-meter mixed-use venue seamlessly transforms between a vibrant daytime canteen and a sleek, high-functionality corporate event space in the evening.

Industrial-Inspired Architecture and Adaptive Interiors
Rooted in the site's industrial history, the architectural concept embraces contemporary materials, functional adaptability, and clean, bold forms. The material palette, featuring aluminum profiles, translucent polycarbonate walls, and GRP grating, highlights the fusion of robust industrial aesthetics with a minimalist modern edge.
A fully equipped underground kitchen supports the space’s operational versatility. Echoing the utilitarian aesthetics of food production facilities, the kitchen design discreetly integrates into the overall spatial language, ensuring seamless service during all types of events.

Modular Division: Movable Walls and Dynamic Spatial Zoning
A key innovation at LES Eventspace is its custom movable wall system, crafted from lightweight aluminum and translucent polycarbonate panels by Rodeca GmbH. These walls allow the 400 m² venue to be flexibly configured into three distinct environments:
- A canteen for daily campus life
- A bar area for informal gatherings
- A corporate event venue for performances and special events
This modular division system not only maximizes functionality but also maintains visual openness and connectivity throughout the interiors.

Acoustic Design: Sound Systems Tailored for Performances
Understanding the importance of acoustics in multipurpose venues, RHO collaborated with Kirsch Audio to develop a customized sound system specifically engineered for LES. To enhance its musical capabilities, a distinctive DJ booth was designed in partnership with Balzer Balzer Studio, constructed from industrial-grade GRP grating to match the venue's architectural vocabulary.

Centerpiece Bar: Industrial Materials with a Contemporary Twist
The rubber-wrapped bar counter stands as a central visual and functional element. Drawing inspiration from food production processes, the solid layered rubber structure is divided into two distinct service levels — one dedicated to drinks and the other adaptable for food tastings or cocktail service. Overhead, a translucent GRP grating canopy conceals technical systems while enhancing the sculptural identity of the bar area.

Versatile Food Counter: Dual-Day Functionality
Complementing the bar, a separate food counter featuring a sculptural steel top transforms effortlessly from a canteen tray station during the day into a sophisticated cocktail bar setup by night. This adaptability epitomizes the project's core principle: spaces that evolve with user needs.

Integrated Lighting: Setting the Stage for Every Event
Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping the atmosphere at LES. Collaborating with lighting designer Jannick Naumann of Room Division Berlin, RHO embedded dynamic, flexible lighting within architectural elements. A built-in lighting truss system, hidden within the GRP grating ceiling and movable walls, ensures that the space can host everything from casual social events to large-scale performances with professional-grade production quality.
LES Eventspace is a model of adaptive reuse, modular interior design, and industrial contemporary architecture. By marrying flexible spatial strategies with cutting-edge lighting and sound design, RHO has created a future-proof venue that serves both everyday needs and extraordinary occasions in Berlin's vibrant industrial north.
