LIVING ENSEMBLE: A Multi-Dwelling Residence by Rahul Pudale Design in Belagavi, India
LIVING ENSEMBLE is a multi-dwelling residence in Belagavi, blending modern design with functional, family-oriented living spaces.
Architectural Vision: A Harmonious Multi-Family Living Concept
LIVING ENSEMBLE, designed by Rahul Pudale Design, is a striking example of contemporary residential architecture that elevates the idea of multi-dwelling living in India. Located in the vibrant city of Belagavi, the project accommodates three families — specifically, three brothers — with each family occupying a dedicated floor. This architectural vision merges individuality with familial connection, creating a thoughtful balance between private and shared spaces.
The design prioritizes harmonious living, where each family’s identity is respected while shared interactions are encouraged. This idea is manifested through a clever interplay of terraces, balconies, and common areas that seamlessly connect the different floors.

Exterior Design: Concrete Meets Brick in Urban Elegance
Occupying a corner plot with limited natural greenery, the project transforms constraints into opportunities. The building’s striking façade features a juxtaposition of board-marked concrete boxes and exposed weathered brick walls, creating a visually engaging composition that blends rough textures with sharp, clean lines.
These concrete volumes project outward, adding rhythm, depth, and movement to the façade. Extended terraces connect the interiors to the exterior, inviting interaction between the floors and enhancing social engagement. Integrated planter boxes on the terraces and balconies introduce an organic element, weaving nature directly into the architectural fabric and allowing the greenery to evolve with the seasons.

Sculptural Façade Elements: More Than Aesthetic
The sculptural concrete boxes are not merely decorative; they embody a synergy of form and function. Externally, they animate the building’s appearance, guiding the viewer’s eye across a unified architectural language. Internally, they serve practical roles, forming the basis of terraces, wardrobes, and even bathrooms.
By thoughtfully wrapping the architectural gestures around the corners, the design establishes a cohesive visual identity that asserts its presence in the urban landscape. The continuous façade line creates an elegant silhouette that distinguishes the residence from neighboring structures, reinforcing its unique identity.

Interior Design: A Dance of Materiality and Light
Inside, the material palette mirrors the exterior, ensuring a visual dialogue between the two realms. Exposed concrete accents on interior walls introduce a touch of modern industrial chic, contrasting beautifully with white-painted surfaces and the warmth of wood-clad furniture. The stone flooring adds rustic charm with its earthy tones, while geometric cement tiles inject a contemporary flair.
Natural light floods the interiors through expansive full-height windows that blur the boundaries between inside and outside. These windows not only provide abundant light and ventilation but also establish a profound connection with the exterior environment, creating immersive living spaces that feel grounded in nature.

Functional Living, Artistic Statement
What makes LIVING ENSEMBLE stand out is its masterful integration of functionality within artistic expression. By embedding terraces, balconies, and interior components into the architectural rhythm, the design maximizes spatial efficiency while maintaining aesthetic coherence. Each material, each sculptural element, and each connection between spaces is carefully orchestrated to enrich the living experience — both visually and practically.
