Jonathan Tuckey Design has unveiled the Malin + Goetz Canary Wharf Store, marking the studio’s fourth collaboration with the international skincare brand. This flagship retail interior in London’s Canary Wharf draws inspiration from the surrounding urban skyline, reinterpreting its towering architecture into a refined, human-centered retail experience.

Urban-Inspired Retail Concept

The design concept reflects the evolving streetscape and verticality of Canary Wharf, reimagining its monumental towers into approachable, modular retail structures. Inside, customers are invited to navigate a “city of skincare,” where slender steel display towers form an urban grid that mirrors the surrounding environment while maintaining a distinctly human scale.

Materiality and Spatial Atmosphere

Custom-built steel structures support translucent white shelves that rise in staggered formations, illuminated by precise spot lighting. This lighting strategy creates a dramatic nighttime city effect, with displays seemingly dissolving into the shadowed ceiling above. The lightweight steel structures contrast with rich, tactile materials—royal blue velvet curtains, polished marble, and matte concrete—bringing depth, texture, and a theatrical sense of atmosphere to the space.

Customer Experience and Consultation Area

At the rear of the store, a solid marble basin anchors a consultation area, offering a moment of calm away from the bustling retail complex. This dedicated space allows visitors to engage more deeply with the Malin + Goetz skincare collection, reinforcing the brand’s focus on wellbeing and personal connection.

Contextual Design Across London

This Canary Wharf flagship follows Jonathan Tuckey Design’s earlier collaborations with Malin + Goetz in Islington, Seven Dials, and Spitalfields. Each location adopts a unique interior language—ranging from timber cubic structures in Islington to sleek floating shelves in Seven Dials—while maintaining a consistent design ethos. The practice emphasizes the apothecary’s historic role as a community connector, ensuring each store reflects its local neighborhood context.

A Shared Vision of Design and Wellbeing

The partnership between Malin + Goetz and Jonathan Tuckey Design demonstrates the power of architecture in shaping brand identity. By merging contextual design cues with immersive interiors, the Canary Wharf store becomes more than a retail space—it is a place that celebrates community, urban identity, and holistic wellbeing.
