Monte House by Meneghetti Arquitectos: A Contemporary Rural Retreat in San Miguel del Monte

Nestled in the verdant expanses of San Miguel del Monte, near the quaint rural neighborhood of La Florentina, Monte House emerges as a subtle dialogue between architecture and landscape. Designed by Meneghetti Arquitectos, this contemporary residence spans 240 m² and demonstrates a profound respect for its agricultural surroundings, where dirt roads, open fields, and metallic silos define the visual identity of the region. These silos, iconic in the Argentine countryside, served as both symbolic and material inspirations for the project.

Harmonizing with the Landscape Through Materiality

The core strategy of Monte House was to create a residential design that blends seamlessly with its environment. The architects chose corrugated metal as the primary material, reflecting the silos and warehouse structures typical of the area. Reinterpreted as a modern aesthetic element, the metal cladding interacts with sunlight and natural surroundings, offering a reflective surface that subtly mirrors the sky and the frost-covered greenery of the plains. This choice of material ensures that the house remains integrated with the landscape, rather than imposing upon it.

Thoughtful Orientation and Spatial Experience

Monte House is designed to balance privacy and openness. The front facade is intentionally opaque, shielding interiors from external views, while the rear opens to a generous courtyard framed by two wings of the house. This openness extends toward the horizon, fostering a seamless connection between indoor spaces and the expansive countryside. The spatial experience encourages a lifestyle that is inwardly intimate yet outwardly connected to nature, embodying the essence of rural living.

Fluid Layout and Playful Loft Design

The linear, ground-floor layout provides a fluid, functional organization of living spaces.
