A Rustic Brazilian Retreat Blending Warmth, Nature, and Timeless Design
Nestled in the mountainous region of Araras, Brazil, Mountain Ranch by Hana Lerner Arquitetura is a serene and intimate retreat that celebrates natural materials, family life, and connection to the surrounding landscape. Designed for Bruno and Giovanna, the home reflects their desire for a cozy, open, and welcoming environment where hosting friends and sharing moments together come naturally.

Warm Interiors Rooted in Nature
The 260-square-meter residence is carefully planned around the seamless integration of the dining room, kitchen, and living space, creating a fluid and sociable layout. The interior design embraces earthy materials and organic textures, using stone walls and floors combined with warm wooden panels to craft a tactile and comforting atmosphere.
Inside, every detail evokes the natural beauty of the region — from the hand-carved stone bathtub and organic-shaped mirrors in the bathroom to the subtle palette that enhances the sense of calm. These natural finishes lend the home a timeless character, blurring the line between interior comfort and the surrounding landscape.

Tuscan Inspiration in a Brazilian Setting
The project’s design draws inspiration from Tuscan farmhouses, a vision that homeowner Giovanna deeply admired. The large rustic wooden doors, stone cladding, and the soft light-blue exterior paint together bring a European charm into the Brazilian context. This thoughtful blend of rustic and refined materials creates a unique architectural dialogue — where tradition meets modern comfort.
The stone façade enhances the home’s natural character, reflecting the textures of the mountain terrain, while expansive windows and doors allow natural light to pour in, maintaining a strong visual and spatial connection to the outdoors. The color palette—anchored in neutral tones, natural wood, and soft blues—infuses the space with both warmth and lightness.

Structural Honesty and Comfort
Inside, Hana Lerner chose to expose the structural elements—wooden beams, brick walls, and ceiling frameworks—revealing the home’s honest craftsmanship. This architectural transparency adds depth and authenticity to the design, enhancing the tactile experience of the space.
Large, inviting armchairs and a centrally placed bed transform the living area into a versatile guest suite, showcasing Lerner’s ability to balance functionality with aesthetic intimacy. This spatial flexibility reflects the family’s lifestyle, where comfort and hospitality take center stage.

A Contemporary Ranch with a Soul
Mountain Ranch captures the essence of contemporary rustic architecture—a design language that respects tradition while embracing modern living. Through the careful selection of natural materials, handcrafted details, and a layout that prioritizes togetherness, Hana Lerner has created a home that feels both grounded and uplifting, a true retreat in the heart of nature.
