Naboa Tulum Hotel by Jaque Studio: Harmonizing Architecture with Tulum’s Tropical Landscape
Naboa Tulum Hotel by Jaque Studio blends modern architecture with lush tropical landscapes, offering private, serene, and sustainably designed luxury accommodations.
Nestled in the heart of Tulum, Mexico, Naboa Tulum Hotel by Jaque Studio is a serene retreat that seamlessly blends contemporary architecture with lush tropical surroundings. Spanning 2,500 m², the project redefines luxury and comfort by creating spaces where architecture and landscape converge, inviting guests to experience tranquility, privacy, and sensory delight.

Architecture and Spatial Design
The hotel’s design is based on a harmonious dialogue between orderly geometric forms and the organic randomness of Tulum’s natural vegetation. The layout revolves around a central swimming pool and tropical garden, establishing a clear axis that organizes the complex while fostering an introspective and serene atmosphere. This thoughtful arrangement enhances privacy while creating a microclimate perfectly suited to relaxation and rejuvenation.

Naboa features 10 guest rooms divided into two typologies. Ground floor rooms embrace horizontal spatial compositions, offering terraces and outdoor bathrooms that directly connect occupants to the verdant surroundings. Upper floor rooms utilize a vertical layout with mezzanines, featuring social spaces with double-height ceilings and two full bedrooms, ensuring airy, well-ventilated interiors tailored for Tulum’s warm climate.

Materiality and Atmosphere
The architecture of Naboa is designed to oscillate between privacy and openness. Solid, closed forms create introspective spaces, while transparency is introduced in social areas to visually connect the interiors with the surrounding landscape and pool. The reception pavilion combines a concrete and chukum base with a lightweight wooden roof that appears to float among the trees, supported by slender columns that integrate seamlessly with the environment.

The restaurant is a striking double-height space with an open kitchen, oriented towards a terrace elevated one meter above ground level, enhancing scenic views and natural ventilation. Limestone walls are strategically used to define boundaries, create transitions, and introduce a sense of order throughout the property.

Sustainable Design and Regional Inspiration
Finishes at Naboa adhere to a natural palette that includes wood, limestone, travertine marble, and chukum, reflecting both the local landscape and the region’s architectural heritage. The project incorporates passive design principles, including natural ventilation and shading, inspired by the vernacular architecture of the Yucatán Peninsula. Every detail prioritizes simplicity, sensory engagement, and a slower, more mindful pace, creating an environment where guests can truly connect with their surroundings.
