Newbery Urban Homes by Dieguez Fridman
Newbery Urban Homes blends concrete, wood, and greenery to create open, community-driven residences that mirror Buenos Aires’ lively neighborhood atmosphere.
Located in the evolving residential neighborhood of Colegiales, Buenos Aires, Newbery Urban Homes by Dieguez Fridman reinterprets urban living through openness, community, and connection to the local atmosphere. Covering 2,200 m², the 2021 project embodies the dynamic transformation of its surroundings — a place where cafés, design stores, and leafy streets foster a relaxed yet vibrant lifestyle.

The architectural concept seeks to bring the neighborhood’s outdoor vitality indoors, creating a spatial promenade from the sidewalk to each apartment entrance. Open circulation areas filled with plants, natural light, and shadow encourage interaction among residents while extending the sense of street life within the building.

Situated at the end of Delgado Street, the site benefits from a rare axial view of a tree-lined avenue, which the design embraces through generous terraces and balconies. These intermediate spaces blur the threshold between public and private realms, offering year-round outdoor living suited to Buenos Aires’ mild climate.

Materially, the structure celebrates exposed concrete — cast against wooden formwork that leaves behind a tactile grain, revealing craftsmanship and natural warmth. Complementing this are operable aluminum sunshades, providing privacy and protection from the western sun while casting intricate shadows that evolve throughout the day.
