Site and Architectural Concept
The PYR House is situated on a dramatic site where the sun rises from behind the main lakefront view and a steep 40-foot (12-meter) cliff defines the terrain. These conditions became the foundation of the architectural concept, influencing the orientation, form, and material selection of the house.
The design is also inspired by pyrite, often called the "stone of home" or "fire stone". This mineral serves as both a poetic and structural reference, shaping the geometric language of the residence.
Design and Structure
Central Staircase and Volumetric Composition
