Revitalizing History: Czech Republic Apartment Renovation by JanskyDundera
JanskyDundera transforms a Czech apartment, preserving history with modern elegance for a young family's comfort.
Exploring the Meticulous Transformation of the Family Silver Apartment in Klatovy
Situated in Klatovy, Czech Republic, the "Family Silver Apartment" is not just a living space; it's a carefully curated blend of history, modernity, and family ties. Crafted by the skilled hands of JanskyDundera architects, this spacious apartment underwent a complete reconstruction in 2022, preserving its 1930s charm while catering to the needs of a young family of four.

An Ode to Family Heritage
The apartment, located in a building constructed by one of the designers' great-grandfather, Zeno Fifka, exudes historical significance. This familial connection not only adds depth to the project but also reflects a meticulous approach akin to treating family silver. The renovation, carried out for close relatives, transforms the space into a unique family home with atypical features.

Spatial Generosity Meets Modernist Elegance
Matěj Janský, one of the architects, emphasizes the intention of infusing spatial generosity and maintaining the modernist First-Republic era character. The apartment, spanning the entire third floor with 170 m², underwent a design transformation that prioritized quality over quantity. Smaller rooms were merged into larger open spaces, fostering a sense of airiness and maximizing shared family areas.

Purposeful Design for Every Member
The reconstruction design not only caters to common spaces but also considers the needs of the family's youngest members. Children's rooms are envisioned as purposeful cells, accessible through a large blue Narnia-inspired storage cupboard, providing them with a playful and imaginative environment.

Cherishing Original Features
The historical narrative of the apartment is woven through several original features like doorknobs, parquet floors, sliding doors, and an acknowledged original painting in the parents' bedroom. These elements not only add character but also serve as a testament to the rich history embedded within the walls.

Award-Winning Precision in Design
Matěj Janský and Cyril Dunděra, co-authors of the design and founders of the award-winning janskydundera studio, meticulously chose interior furnishings and materials. The apartment radiates with rich colors and boasts original furniture from the production of MCDJ, showcasing the precision and expertise of the designers.

The Family Silver Apartment in Klatovy stands as a remarkable example of architectural excellence and familial connection. JanskyDundera's thoughtful renovation has revitalized history, creating a living space that seamlessly blends the charm of the past with the functionality of the present.
