One of the most fundamental responses in traditional Sri Lankan architecture is its connection with nature. The form of the Garden Pavilion was conceptualised as a series of open terraces or platforms from which activity could take place. Through the building’s response to the natural environment, it could make full use of passive ventilation strategies.
