The project proposes scalable urban, landscape and housing interventions that will help the neighborhoods to survive in future flood crisis, bring the community together by enhancing the public space but also to create a more sustainable modular neighborhood that considers the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

Landscape win-win strategy
By digging crops in three different levels surrounding the community households, peri-urban village food supplies improve. At the same time earth leftovers from crop excavations are used to build a dam to protect community from flood emergency. In case of flood disaster, the dam protects families, livestock and crops, but even in the unlikely event of river water level rise, the excavated crops would act as water tanks, storing huge amounts of water before inundating households and livestock areas. The banks of the river are planned to be replanted by mangroves -- an autochthonous plant, that protects the banks from waves, storms, etc.
Public square and street
The master plan strategically is planned to bring the community together by enhancing the public space, providing cool and shaded areas where community can gather together. These spaces include ghats, public squares, sports playgrounds, pedestrian shaded paths along the commercial area and pedestrian paths along the roads.
