The concept of liberation from the traditional srilankan design using the traditional elements of design was a good approach, these elements should have been used with a contemporary outlook, thus liberating from a traditional to a contemporary design. The present design output doesn't achieve this.

The Garden Pavilion

One of the most fundamental responses in traditional Sri Lankan architecture is its connection with nature. Through the building’s response to the natural environment, it could make full use of passive ventilation strategies.

WOVEN WORK

Based on traditional patterns woven by Indian women, the project recalls a tradition based on manual labor as well as creative work. Because the patterns are made up of solids and voids, the project transfers them to a set of courtyards determined by the directional relationship of the weave formed by the modules and the courtyard.

Our concept stems from a focus on sustainability as a form, and on creating a school which becomes a part of the public infrastructure by continuously generating interest in the larger civic condition.
