Step School

The presented design has been created based on Waldorf principles of experimental learning for children of all ages. The key concept of this design is to recreate conventional beliefs about schools and classrooms by transforming the layout of a traditional school and classes with the aim of increasing student freedom of action and flourishing talents.

Sensory Landmark

Fear of the unknown environment leads to a lack of activity, directly linked to children's creativity. The focus was on spending the most extended hours of the day and living without fear in the most stimulated schools. What if they could perceive the school's environment with their own senses? What if they had their maps in their heads?

The sense of coherence

The major principle of our design strategy is that school's building and space (including its 'hidden curriculum') produce the sense of coherence - by using diverse modes of learning that would provide integrity and comprehensibility of the surrounding world, manageability and meaningfulness of its elements for personal development of each pupil.
