Urban Renewal
Reviving old railway lines: the concept focuses on opening up the sunken railway space for the public. The idea of La Recyclerie café is used as the basic function of the site. Urban farming, fish farming and workshop along with spaces like reading rooms and cafés makes the public participation possible.

The concept focuses on opening up the sunken railway space for the public. The idea of La Recyclerie café is used as the basic function of the site. Urban farming, fish farming and workshop along with spaces like reading rooms and cafés makes the public participation possible.
Panel 1
There are permanent and temporary modules on the site. The temporary modules have functions that are more focused on immigrants and local residents like reading spaces, flea markets and workshops. The permanent modules have functions that attract the tourists, such as café with balconies for views into the site from the main road.
Panel 2
The scalable and modular units are prefabricated and made with wood. A part of the old railway line was also preserved and integrated into the design to make some modular units to move on this track. There are programs like urban farming, fish farming and recycling areas integrated into the site to help with the cost effectiveness of the design.
Panel 3
Since the site is narrow and long, the design is done in layers. The functions are placed in layers long the length of the site. The places closer to the La Recyclerie café are more closed and compliment the function of the café with not so much openness to the public. As you move the length, the functions get more public.
Panel 4
The café La Recyclerie already makes a lot of effort to promote sustainability. In addition to the already present bee hotels and urban gardens, a small fish farm was added on the site. There is also a recycling area near to the café building. Other than this, a prominent feature of the design is the small public food area/café that has balconies.
