FOUNDATIONS OF CHANGE : A SUSTAINABLE MODEL FOR MIGRANT CONSTRUCTION WORKERS

This dissertation focuses on studying the living and educational conditions of migrant construction workers and their families-an often neglected yet vital part of India’s urban workforce. It proposes a sustainable, low-cost, and modular housing solution that is scalable, stackable, and reusable across compact construction sites. The design incorporates on-site construction waste to reduce costs and environmental impact, while also integrating educational and social infrastructure-including classrooms, libraries, and women empowerment spaces. The aim is to create a dignified, adaptable, and inclusive living model that supports both quality of life and future opportunities, offering a replicable approach for urban and rural contexts alike.
