Shared Grounds: Designing Inclusive Urban Fabrics for Humans and Urban Wildlife

Urban spaces are dynamic environments in which human activity, infrastructure, and nonhuman residents interact in intricate patterns. Yet, urbanisation and the privatisation of public space have been factors in the increasing marginalisation of free-roaming animals, especially cats and dogs, and the resulting tensions in human-animal coexistence. This study examines the changing attitudes in terms of growing apathy and intolerance towards animals and their ecological and social functions.
