Beyond the first shade of the site exits a far richer dynamic -of people living as family across a neighborhood. The preservation of this UNESCO site was only possible because of the bond between the villagers. My take is to present the unity and pride of Shirakawa Go while paying homage to its culture. This project doesn't exist without its people

Courtyard Living

The project proposes housing that reflects Bolgatanga’s culture and lifestyle by incorporating the spatial arrangement of the region’s traditional compound houses and courtyards, which encourage community engagement among inhabitants.

WOVEN WORK

Based on traditional patterns woven by Indian women, the project recalls a tradition based on manual labor as well as creative work. Because the patterns are made up of solids and voids, the project transfers them to a set of courtyards determined by the directional relationship of the weave formed by the modules and the courtyard.
