Community spaces are the shared places where people gather, move and recover together, including neighbourhoods, plazas, towers, greenways and residential complexes. For designers they raise questions about how a single built form can support social life, adapt over time and respond to local climate, ecology and cultural practice.Members explore these questions through projects ranging from residential and coastal complexes to riverside greenways, ecological retreats and reclaimed landfill sites. The work frequently addresses how design can grow with its inhabitants, draw on indigenous knowledge and repair damaged land while creating places for shared use.
