Re-Utility

Memory is a valuable tool to recapture the delight moment of nostalgia. It is such a powerful yet complicated database that can transcend people to recreated recollection of comfort, pleasure, even sorrow and terror. Our works often play with inspiration from found objects that trigger memories by exercising the use of arrangement, juxtaposition, shift in scale, color, and use of extraordinary materials. We tend to make interactive and occupiable design structure or landscape field that offer visitors accessible ways to engage with surrounding landscape, people, and their own memories. JAEMEE STUDIO is a interdisciplinary design studio based in Jersey City USA founded by landscape architect/public artist Haemee Han and Architectural designer Jaeyual Lee. We explore how each project site creates cultural, social, and ecological impact on its surrounding context and society in the simplest artistic form. While creating infrastructure for artistic intervention, we believe our imaginative approach to design results in multidisciplinary exchange of ideas and values.
