Architectural Vision and Design

Bar Kar, designed by the illustrious Spacemen Studio, spans an impressive area of 410 m². Under the guidance of lead architect Edward Tan, the studio has crafted an environment that transcends the traditional dining space. The journey into Bar Kar begins with an entrance marked by a distorted arch, setting the stage for an experience reminiscent of entering a mystical cave.

The interior of Bar Kar is a homage to the ancient earth oven pits, with its cavernous ambiance adorned in earthy terracotta hues. The design ingeniously marries the primordial with the modern, creating a space that feels both ancient and avant-garde. Two main features dominate the interior: a circular bar counter made of red travertine and a plush banquet sofa area highlighted by a fiery gold metal mesh sculpture. These elements are not merely decorative but serve as abstract interpretations of the elemental force of heat and fire.

Culinary Experience and Interactivity

Bar Kar is not just about visual aesthetics; it's an interactive culinary journey. The Chef’s Table, a U-shaped counter made from grey travertine, accommodates up to 20 guests. This setting allows diners to engage directly with the chefs, offering a front-row seat to the art of primordial style woodfire cooking.

The private dining room offers a more secluded experience, echoing the organic contours of a cave. It features cascading layers and a floating fire mesh sculpture above a striking red travertine dining table, providing a unique, cocoon-like dining sanctuary.

Materials and Craftsmanship

The choice of materials in Bar Kar speaks volumes about its design ethos. Manufacturers like Cablerod, Levo Art Stone, and Niro Granite Indonesia have contributed to the unique material palette, which includes the extensive use of red travertine and terracotta. The craftsmanship, especially evident in the custom carpentry by Proprimedge Design and the intricate metalwork, adds layers of depth and texture to the space.
