First of all, let's talk about the concept:The concept is similar to the combination of jigsaw puzzles and blocks.
Bogota, Colombia, is rich in high-quality clay, and its bricks are not only cheap, but also straight and tidy. Therefore, most of the traditional residential houses are brick structures, and the brick walls are piled up.
In the design, I got inspiration from it, so that the building blocks inside the site and the site were divided into small pieces, imitating the biting situation when the brick structure was built. Of course, when the blocks were combined, the block group became a jigsaw puzzle, and the combined block groups were spliced in the site, forming my plane.
Of course, because the body blocks are the same on the facade as on the plane, on the facade, each block is stacked on it. On the body, each block is stacked on top, thus forming a stacking between blocks. Each individual block is designed with rounded corners. Although it cannot fit completely when it fits, it can form a more rounded space experience indoors.
In terms of detail design, because the design site is located in Colombia, which is a tropical monsoon climate, it is necessary to open a large number of windows or open a large area of windows to achieve heat dissipation. At the same time, in addition to their own functions, some first-level spaces also have display parts. Therefore, when designing windows, I designed many large windows with large areas. Inspired by the masonry stack, the windows are designed to be square and L-shaped, and the squares and L-shaped windows bite each other. This formed my window. In terms of window structure, I designed the window to rotate the central axis. The window sash rotates with the central axis, and in the process of rotation, it forms a sense of scale.
In terms of investigation, due to the rush of time, it is impossible to get tickets and visas to the venue quickly. Therefore, in terms of investigation methods, I can't get the first-hand actual information and the actual site situation.
Fortunately, in view of the fact that many people now publish videos on the Internet, posting their experiences and feelings about the area. Therefore, before officially starting the investigation, I will watch a lot of videos about local culture and some tourist vlogs. My first impression of the city of Bogota also comes from the eyes of others, the so-called "the viewer is confused, the bystander is clear".
As for querying some local data, such as food waste, I inquired through some academic forums on the Internet and the official Colombian Bureau of Statistics website. In addition to the usual discussion forums, the academic forum also has some special unofficial organisation websites. For example, when inquiring about food waste in Colombia, in addition to the official website of the United Nations Food Programme and the official website of Statistics Columbia, there is also faostat.
The original intention of the design at that time was mainly to achieve two goals through the building: 1. to alleviate the local food waste problem, and 2. to alleviate the livelihood problems of the local refugees.
After the project is completed, the construction staff will consist of local refugees, professional staff, and unofficial organizations. The purpose of the professional staff is to teach local refugees how to produce food, generate electricity from waste, compost and apply it to farmland.
