On India’s tropical Malabar coast lies the state of Kerala, a place with palm-lined beaches, network of canals and mountains with variety of plantation. It was seen as a perfect getaway spot from the widespread virus and a comfortable isolation by the Das family. After the world declared a disease pandemic and every thing became online the Das family which consists of a graphic designer dad, a computer programmer mom and 10 years old twin girls, decided to stay most of their time in their Kerala house away from the city.  A house that was specially designed for them to provide all their needs and keep them entertained inside the house. Kerala is known for its high temperature and humidity all year long. Which makes it hard to build houses that is provided with good ventilation. This is why we tried to use the most suitable material that would prevent passing the high temperature and humidity to the house and would provide a good ventilation. The normal materials that are used for building corrupts in Kerala due to its temperature and environment, therefore the materials that was used in the house was mostly isolated processed wood and glass. Moreover, lots of green areas were added to lower the temperature.

It’s a 2-floor villa attached to a 1-floor entertainment area. When entering the villa, a panorama view of the house and the outside garden and pool is seen. In the main floor there is a gallery hall that consists of a lounge, living room, and dining room that gets its wide lighting from the huge glass wall, and good ventilation from the wood tiles in the glass wall. After passing the gallery hall there is a working area that is surrounded with glass walls to provide a good natural lighting and a panorama view of the garden to give positive energy while working. The area is divided to two separated working places between the parents and the twins. Right above the working area is the master room which have the same panorama feeling but with less glass walls to give it more privacy. The twins’ room is in the other end of the floor. Each room in this floor have its own bathroom and dressing room, there is also a main bathroom and a mini kitchen to keep their urgent needs. At last, in this floor there is a terrace that has a wide view and a nice weather that is provided by the near water canal, pool, and the green roof of the entertainment building; that is made to create a harmony with the green surroundings. The green roof also assures a better weather for the entertainment building that is exposed to the sun all day.

The entertainment building contains the means that would keep them entertained and compensates the city life. It has a gym area, video games corner, and a billiard table. It’s glass wall gives a view that sees the swimming pool and the garden. Having access to the swimming pool it also has a bathroom and 2 showers to serve the swimming pool. Going back to the main floor right opposite to the entertainment building, there is a music station area that has a variety of music instruments that server the family’s hobby of playing music. The backyard has an open-air fresher cool swimming pool surrounded by a large-scale garden with a sitting area, at the end of the garden there is a towpath looking at the canal that provides a magical sunset view.
