The project is a fully integrated tourist resort focused on a unique natural and cultural exploration experience in the Karbala desert, centered around the Al-Sawqa‘ana phenomenon. The design concept is based on the contrast between the arid desert surface and the life-filled underground cavities, where the architectural surfaces reflect desert crack patterns and gradually guide visitors toward the green core of the site, represented by Al-Sawqa‘ana. The project includes a central hub around Al-Sawqa‘ana, surrounded by restaurants and recreational facilities, and a museum divided into three sections: astronomy, natural and geological sciences, and traditional Bedouin life. All sections connect through a circular bridge around Al-Sawqa‘ana, leading to a descending pathway into the phenomenon itself for a unique exploratory experience. On the left side, there are 34 chalets of different types (A, B, C), all equipped with independent solar energy systems and offering scenic views of rocks and water. The right side features transparent camping capsules for night sky observation and architecturally designed modern tents, along with interactive zones, an administrative section, and a safari activity area. The project is designed following principles of environmental sustainability and clean energy, using natural cooling through subsoil layers, groundwater circulation for cooling and humidification, solar panels for each unit, and windbreakers inspired by sand dune formations. Organized into terraced levels, the main entrance is at the highest point, allowing visitors to view the project from above before descending, enhancing curiosity and providing a fully immersive experience that combines nature, culture, and adventure.
