KC House by Wahana Architects: A Three-Story Pentagonal Residence in Tangerang, Indonesia
KC House is a three-story pentagon-shaped home in Tangerang, blending Feng Shui, privacy screens, garden views, and casual outdoor living.
KC House, designed by Wahana Architects, is a striking three-story residence in Tangerang, Indonesia, thoughtfully crafted to balance privacy, sunlight, and outdoor connectivity. The design is distinguished by the property’s unique pentagon-shaped land, which provides opportunities for creative spatial organization while integrating the surrounding lush garden and tranquil river view.

Design Concept and Site Planning
The site presented both opportunities and challenges. While the property benefits from a serene green area and a well-maintained front garden, the proximity of nearby apartments created privacy concerns. To address this, the architects incorporated laser-cut facades and carefully oriented layouts to ensure intimate, unobstructed spaces.
The home is divided into two main structural volumes across three floors, allowing natural sunlight to penetrate the central areas. This split structure enhances ventilation, daylighting, and the sense of openness, while creating an architectural dialogue between the interior and the natural surroundings.

Feng Shui Integration
A distinctive feature of KC House is its incorporation of Feng Shui principles. The architects used these guidelines to organize functional zones, ensuring harmony, energy flow, and well-being throughout the home. From the placement of the main living areas to the private bedrooms, Feng Shui shaped the relationship between spaces, views, and circulation.

Ground Floor: Versatile and Functional Spaces
The ground floor of KC House accommodates essential functions including:
- Car parking and main entrance
- Versatile activity area
- Guest bedroom
- Service spaces
This layout allows for practicality and convenience, while also opening up towards the garden, reinforcing a connection with nature.

Second Floor: Living Spaces and Outdoor Connection
The second floor hosts the main living areas:
- Spacious living room
- Dining area and modern kitchen
- Casual outdoor seating spaces
- Prayer room
These areas provide panoramic views of the front garden and the tranquil surroundings, blending indoor comfort with outdoor serenity. Strategic laser-cut designs offer privacy from neighboring apartments while still inviting sunlight and airflow into the living areas.

Third Floor: Private Family Retreat
The third floor is dedicated to family privacy and comfort. This level includes:
- Master bedroom
- Three children’s bedrooms
- Family room
- Cozy reading and relaxation corner
All spaces are carefully positioned according to Feng Shui principles, creating a harmonious private retreat that balances family interaction and personal space.

Materiality and Finishes
KC House employs high-quality, durable materials chosen for both aesthetics and performance. Aluminium, wood, and concrete details complement modern Indonesian design sensibilities, while integrated lighting solutions by Artmosphere Lighting enhance ambiance and functionality throughout the home.
KC House exemplifies how thoughtful design can transform a challenging site into a harmonious, functional, and visually captivating home. By integrating unique land geometry, surrounding greenery, cultural Feng Shui principles, and the client’s lifestyle preferences, Wahana Architects created a modern, three-story residence that celebrates privacy, sunlight, and family living in Tangerang.
