Architectural Vision: Reimagining a City Hotel

The design process was guided by a strong commitment to preserving the building’s original framework while breathing new life into its spatial narrative. By maintaining the structural skeleton, the architects emphasized sustainable renovation, reducing the environmental footprint while updating the hotel’s identity.

The architecture introduces a dynamic dialogue between the city and the interior spaces, featuring a distinctive facade crafted from pre-patinated gray-green zinc. This material choice subtly references the historic Parisian rooftops, embedding the building into the cultural fabric of its surroundings. The zinc façade functions not just aesthetically but also as a luminous filter, diffusing soft daylight into the guestrooms and buffering the interiors from the bustling urban context.

Nature as a Central Theme

At the heart of La Fantaisie is a lush, expanded garden that redefines the hotel’s atmosphere. More than just an outdoor space, this botanical core acts as a green sanctuary, blurring the boundaries between inside and out. A striking glass roof spans the entire width of the garden, creating an immersive, light-filled environment that envelops the restaurant — Golden Poppy, curated by Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn.

The garden and glazed roof create a peaceful, almost dreamlike ambiance for guests, forming an architectural journey beyond the guestrooms. This holistic experience reflects a contemporary understanding of hospitality design — one where public and semi-private spaces are as carefully curated as the rooms themselves.

Interior and Experiential Design

The hotel’s interiors, designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS), offer an elegant blend of contemporary comfort and whimsical charm. Every detail supports the overarching theme of fantasy and retreat. The lighting, crafted by Cobalt, enhances the ambiance with delicate precision, while META Acoustique ensures an acoustic calmness that deepens the sense of escape.
