Las Ventas E-Sport Arena: A Visionary Leap in Futuristic Architecture
Futuristic architecture meets immersive gaming—Las Ventas E-Sport Arena transforms entertainment through technology and design.
The Las Ventas E-Sport Arena is a groundbreaking project that transforms an obsolete space into a cutting-edge entertainment hub. By integrating advanced technologies in the gaming industry, this futuristic architecture concept reimagines the existing structure, blending heritage with digital evolution. The project, led by Julio Morales and Cristóbal Alexis Olivares, was a shortlisted entry for The Digital Colosseum 2020 competition.

The Expansion of E-Sports by 2050
E-Sports will continue their exponential rise, surpassing conventional sports in audience size, professional engagement, and global influence. This project envisions a space that accommodates this evolution, offering an immersive and technologically advanced arena for players and spectators alike.
Concept of the Project
The Las Ventas E-Sport Arena is not just a venue; it is a statement of futuristic architecture. It preserves the historical significance of the existing structure while eliminating outdated forms of entertainment. The project symbolizes an evolution, where the past meets the future through virtual reality, holographic projections, and interactive gaming experiences.
Innovative Design for a Technological Era
This architectural transformation creates a space where spectators are no longer passive viewers but active participants. Virtual reality (VR) technology allows players to step into their games, while holograms bring dynamic interactions into the arena. The futuristic design incorporates circular forms to promote inclusivity and balance, culminating in a central suspended sphere that serves as the heart of the arena.

User Classification in the E-Sports Arena
The arena caters to three distinct user groups:
- Gamers & Administration – Includes staff, sponsors, and professional players.
- Direct Viewers – Fans inside the arena who experience the action live.
- Indirect Spectators – Individuals engaging with the event through exterior screens.
Programmatic Functions & Spatial Design
The layout divides the space into three main zones, aligning with user needs. The integration of smart architecture ensures a seamless blend of physical and digital elements, allowing for flexible configurations based on different gaming events.

Architectural Form & Sustainability
Emphasizing a non-invasive design, the arena retains the historic shell while introducing a futuristic, immersive core. The floating sphere at its center enhances engagement for all attendees, supported by sleek, high-tech arches that frame the structure.
A 2050 Vision: The Future of Entertainment Spaces
In an era of hyper-dense urban environments, this arena offers a break from traditional cityscapes, utilizing its 58,974 square meters as a multi-purpose, open, and adaptable entertainment hub. It redefines how we experience competitive gaming, making it a benchmark for future futuristic architecture projects worldwide.
