Green space and its effects on humans

Being in nature has positive effects on human physical, mental and psychological activities. Today, modern and industrial society is far from nature due to having life and machine habits and therefore suffers from various mental illnesses. Researches has shown that green space has direct effects on health and stress.

Attention to nature

To create a peaceful life in this turbulent age, we must turn to this important view of Eastern civilization: the noble Eastern man does not consider himself separated or dominated by nature, even sees his/her existence as debtor to nature and an Inseparable part of it.

Concept

Our ancestors lived in nature, in a boundless place and recognized their life process with the elements of nature. By the time passed, humans have invaded to nature and gained their physical comfort, achievements (industrial and technological advances). But this trip was not devoid of harmful effects. He/she set up a structural area for himself/herself called a house. This delimitation took man/woman away from living in nature. Can he/she live in the heart of nature like his ancestors? How can we experience that level of closeness to nature? The solution of this project to answer the question is: man's/woman’s unlimited primal life must be linked to the coordinates of his now limited life.

Structure of Concept

In this project, we see the connection between the two houses. The first part is the symbol of the first human house and the second part is the symbol of his/her present house. The first house is without a wall-roof-door and window. In this part of the house, they can have direct connection with nature, in other words, a small piece of nature in the living space. The various landscapes of nature are visible There is also the possibility of walking, sitting and even lying among the trees, even the possibility of watering for the residents. Current house: In fact, the current house has the coordinates of human needs today. It has the necessary parts for life, such as: living room, bedrooms, bathroom and ... .

Designing methods

In designing this project, three methods of deductive, narrative and programmatic (looking for the required needs and goals) have been used. The design process of this project has lasted 107 days.

Attention to human beings

Case 1) Being close to nature

The main advantage of this design is the acceptance of the elements of nature in the composition of the first part of the house. And what could be better than tree in nature? So we see the existence of trees in the middle of the house.

Case 2) Stay and experience what is in it

The second part of the design of this house is responsible for providing security by a shelter for the person living in it and the important parts of a house (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc.) are provided to solve the basic needs.

General and non-specific details about animals

Case 1) Wood-eating bee

An example of an insect that can destroy wooden structures is the wood-eating bee or Circus. These bees easily infiltrate into the depths of the wood.

Case 2) Termite

Termites are strangely interested in wood. Sometimes the termite nests in the wood is from the time that tree is not cut down, and after cutting, it remains with the wood, which in the future can destroy wooden structures. They love dark and closed environments and avoid the light space. Therefore, materials should be used that have a high resistance to rain (due to the climatic conditions of the forest of DEAN) as well as insects and animals.

How materials are selected

In order to save natural resources, not only has no damage been done to nature, even they selected old dried processed wood as the material. Also, due to house which is located in the forest, a material has been used that is more resistant to the outdoors. Like thermowood, which is a natural wood that changes its cellular structure due to heat and is free of all chemicals and it is environment’s friend. It has high tolerance to various weather conditions and is also very resistant against mold, fungi, termites and pests, and therefore is the best option for outdoor use.

Structural system

In this project, two types of basic structural systems have been proposed that guarantees the execution capability of the structure.

Case 1) Frame structure system

This structural system used in the first part of the work. Framed structures are a combination of columns and beams. These columns and beams are connected to each other with using simple or rigid connections.

Case 2) Transmitted flat trusses

This structural system used on the roof of the second part of the work. A truss is a set of straight rods that are articulated together to form triangular grids. Truss members are connected to each other by welding or rivets or screws. Trusses are light in weight. They have a lot of resistance against the forces and their construction is economical. In this type of trusses, the members are oriented in three dimensions of space.

Conclusion

The purpose of this project is to develop the human existence in its natural habitat (forest) in such a way that it is possible to live peacefully in the heart of nature. But this time, his/her existence in nature is not equal to damaging it, even they reach a balance in relation to each other. There is a special possibility in the design of this house. So that this time man is not just a resident in the house, but this time we are part of nature and experience life in the middle of the forest. Finalization of our project is one of the most important parts. This is the result of research on different types of green buildings suitable for natural habitat, like forests, and unique designs. All designs were done in days and months to have the most suitable building.
