PAGEONE: Vinyl Concept POLPAS by llLab.: A Sensory Retreat for Books and Music in Beijing
PAGEONE POLPAS in Beijing blends books, vinyl, and natural materials into a serene, immersive concept store for reading, music, and reflection.
Located in the serene surroundings of Olympic Forest Park, Beijing, the PAGEONE Vinyl Concept POLPAS Store by llLab. marks a bold step in redefining the modern bookstore and vinyl experience. Spanning 400 m², this concept store embodies a harmonious fusion of literature, music, design, and sensory engagement, creating an immersive environment for reading, listening, and contemplation.

PAGEONE’s new venture introduces a fresh perspective, diverging from conventional retail formats. Here, books and vinyl records are treated as parallel mediums: both channels for documentation, memory, and cultural storytelling. This duality celebrates distinct methods of engagement, offering visitors a unique, multi-sensory experience where sight, sound, and touch intertwine.

The store’s layout prioritizes human-scale interaction while maintaining a striking architectural presence. Natural wood finishes dominate the interior, creating a sense of warmth and intimacy. Carefully curated shelving ensures that every book and record is within easy reach, transforming browsing into an immersive, contemplative experience. Visitors are invited to linger, absorb, and reflect within dedicated reading corners, music zones, and cozy seating areas.

The centerpiece of the store is a double-height display wall, thoughtfully designed to evoke a “vinyl concert hall” ambiance. This central feature not only celebrates the rich history of vinyl but also integrates spaces for coffee breaks, events, and children’s activities, seamlessly blending retail, leisure, and cultural programming. Every area encourages engagement while offering the privacy and comfort of a personal retreat.

Spatially, PAGEONE POLPAS complements its counterpart, PAGEONE BeijingFun, along the city’s cultural north-south axis. While BeijingFun reflects the city’s vibrant street life, POLPAS serves as a serene urban oasis, inviting visitors to pause, reconnect with personal memories, and enjoy a slower, sensory-focused retail experience.

Materials and detailing further enhance the store’s concept. Rammed earth textures, laminated wood veneers, and soft lighting combine to evoke tactile richness, grounding visitors in a natural, organic environment. Every surface, from shelving to seating, is crafted to foster intimacy and focus, ensuring that both books and vinyl records are appreciated not just as products but as cultural artifacts.

With its innovative spatial design, curated material palette, and thoughtful programming, PAGEONE POLPAS positions itself as more than a store: it is a cultural hub, a reading sanctuary, and a music lover’s haven within Beijing’s Olympic Forest Park. By merging retail with sensory and cultural experiences, llLab. has redefined what a modern concept bookstore and vinyl store can be.
