Conceptualized by Indiesalon, this innovative dining space reimagines the classic backyard BBQ experience in an urban setting, where apartment living often limits outdoor grilling traditions. By transforming an abandoned building, Slowyard has created an inviting atmosphere where guests can immerse themselves in the rich flavors, aromas, and communal spirit of authentic Texas-style BBQ.

Thoughtful Architectural Transformation

Designed by lead architect Seokjoon Jang, the 660 m² restaurant embraces adaptive reuse architecture, revitalizing an aging structure into a contemporary food destination. The original first-floor parking area has been converted into an expansive green lawn, serving as an open-air dining space that seamlessly connects with the indoor seating areas. This transformation enhances the guest experience by blurring the lines between interior and exterior spaces, allowing patrons to enjoy BBQ dining throughout the seasons.

Large, retractable windows on the first floor further dissolve the barriers between indoors and outdoors, creating a dynamic dining environment that evolves with the weather. The design not only preserves the industrial character of the original building but also introduces natural elements to evoke the warmth and authenticity of traditional Texas smokehouses.

Long bench-style seating along the windows provides panoramic views and a communal atmosphere, while central tables offer flexibility, allowing guests to rearrange them based on their dining needs. Inspired by stacked firewood, these central seats reinforce the essence of BBQ culture.
