A New Culinary Landmark by the Indian Ocean

Steki Restaurant, designed by HRH Sheikha Shamseh Al Sharqi in collaboration with Carlos Gris Studio, is an intimate dining destination located on the serene coastline of Fujairah, UAE. Positioned right on the beach and overlooking the Indian Ocean, Steki takes its name from the Greek word meaning “hangout place for friends,” reflecting its welcoming atmosphere and communal spirit.

The restaurant is more than just a dining space—it is a fusion of culture, architecture, and gastronomy, where Greek culinary traditions meet the natural beauty of the UAE coastline.

Design Inspiration: The Language of Nature and the Sea

The interiors draw heavily from organic forms found in marine life and the movement of water surrounding coastal islands. Every curve and detail has been designed to mimic the fluidity of the ocean. The walls and floor are not straight or rigid but flow like currents, creating a space that feels alive and dynamic.

To strengthen the connection between Fujairah and Greece, the design incorporates parallels between the two coastal landscapes. Both regions share similar marine life, which is illustrated in the bespoke, decorative flooring. The undulating mountainous islands of Fujairah echo the organic coastal alcoves of Greece, and both share a softened pink color palette, inspired by sunrise in Fujairah and the painted walls of Cycladic houses in Greece.

Architecture and Spatial Experience

The floorplan itself was designed by tracing the movement of fish and water around the islands, creating a layout free of straight lines. Every wall was sketched directly on-site, making the space an architectural illustration of the sea.

One of the most remarkable elements is the snaking, custom-made organic sofa, templated to fit closely against the curved walling. This seating creates intimacy while maintaining a fluid dialogue with the overall environment. The interior design ensures that guests feel both the comfort of a local gathering spot and the elegance of a high-end dining venue.

Atmosphere: Intimacy Meets Glamour

Steki strikes a balance between coastal relaxation and modern sophistication. The space is designed to be intimate, making it ideal for residents and visitors looking for a serene escape. At the same time, the restaurant offers premium Greek cuisine, paired with design elements that elevate the dining experience to something memorable and glamorous.
