The structure revolves around the idea of creating a city within a city. It promotes the concept of co-living, co-working within a concentrated package of people, economy, and capital. It is spined by a central core of public activities and interaction units that puncture the internal volume and articulate the facade.

Before our design process, we thought about elements that doesn’t change in architecture over time. We found out that the act of gathering and needs for protected indoor space are the everlasting characteristics of human beings. Tinker Project

Taking inspiration from the existing skyline of Cairo’s slums and particularly Manshiyat Naser, and by repurposing the most common building materials used such as simple red brick, recycled wood and steel, ‘Ghiya’ was visualized as a striking and optimistic continuation to an otherwise monotonous and often overlooked skyline.

Adaptive Dwellings

The main concept of the project is inspired by the traditional Bajau house. First, the triangular roof extended to the surface of the ocean, and then the roof extended to create platforms inside and outside the building. Thanks to this change in the traditional form of the Bajau house, the building has been able to be floated.
